Village/Feathers/Week

Dear Village Parent:
Today’s “instrument” play provided exposure to a variety of sounds and rhythms. This variety is critical to your child’s intellectual development because varied exposure leads to language proficiency, spatial reasoning, and temporal reasoning. It also increases understanding of moods and emotions.
This week’s Home Activity, “Playing with Songs,” encourages you to sing, sing, sing to your child. Consider adding variety by inviting your baby to accompany you on homemade instruments! Some instrument ideas include tapping a pot with a spoon, the floor with a comb, or a book with your fingers. Or pull out your baby’s rattles and other “noise-makers” for a toy band. Enjoy the cacophony!
