Dear Young Child 1 Parent:
This week we began working on recognizing the difference between sounds with a beat and sounds without a beat. Eventually the children will be able to distinguish the difference between fast and slow beats, beat groupings, and changing beats. This ability will enable them to be successful in ensemble playing, to understand music notation, and to appreciate various styles of music.
Further the “beat experience” by turning on some music and inviting your child to keep a steady beat with her rhythm sticks. How many different ways can she play? Write them down on your Music at Home 3 card and next week we will explore ways to play! Also, find a “beat keeper” at home and bring it to class next week. See you then!
